“We picked up a massive three points” Stevie Moan Jan 22, 2018

Captain Stevie Moan described the three points picked up against Ballinamallard on Saturday as ‘massive’.

Moan – Ballinamallard Game

This was a very important game for us and one in which we knew we had to get maximum points from. We hadn’t played for almost two weeks, but the boys were looking sharp in training and the attitude was first class. This allowed us to go into the game full of confidence which resulted in us getting a massive three points. We started slow and a mistake from our reliable goalie nearly cost us a goal only I cleared the danger myself which was a relief so early in the game. We were the better team in the first half but did not convert some of our chances. We got the breakthrough when the ball fell Davidson from a corner and he controlled the ball brilliantly and fizzed the ball into the box, to the oncoming Conor Mac who finished with a bullet header. I think that we deserved the lead as we were playing good football. We did not show up at all for the second half, I think this might have been nerves as we were winning, and this was a very important game.  I think that that we were solid at the back and defended very well to prevent them from scoring. They went down to 10 men, but we could not kill the game off. They put pressure on us in the last 15 but we held on and defended for our lives. Overall, we did not play as well as we wanted but we kept a clean sheet and got the win and that is the most important thing. We picked up a massive 3 points which helps in our bid for survival. It’s time for us to look at catching the teams above us instead of looking to pull away from them below. A special mention to Keith O’Hara who played well on his debut and the return of Alan Davidson, his pace and power is a huge boost.

Glenavon Game

If we defend like we did on Saturday I could see us getting something from the game as we have the firepower to get us goals. Glenavon are flying at the minute and Stephen Murray is a good addition for them. But we recently played them a couple of weeks ago and we dominated the game start to finish but could not hit the back of the net and then we conceded a soft goal. We should be going into the game full of confidence and I think that we can take something from them.
