“We made hard work of it, but thankfully we got the win” Stevie Moan Oct 17, 2017

Ballinmarrard game

This was a big game for us as I previously said in the preview last week and one in which we needed to take full points from. We made hard work of it, but thankfully we got the 3 points. We started off brightly and could have scored 2 minutes into the game if it wasn’t for a good save from their keeper. We played some nice football throughout the game, and we got our reward late in the 1st half. A slick move down the left-hand side which saw Stevie Murray square the ball to ‘offside king’ Darren Murray who slotted it into the bottom corner. We continued to play some more good football before the break. In the second half we pushed on and had 2 or 3 glorious chances to put the game to bed which we failed to take, due to the opposing goalkeeper being in fine form. We got punished again from a ball into the box that we failed to clear, with our keeper and defender getting into disarray and the ball ending up in the back of our net. Usually that’s when our heads go down, but we continued to work hard and push on. Our hard work paid off in the last few minutes of the game when the ball fell to Alan Davidson who was in the right place at the right time to smash the ball into the net. We then soaked up a few long balls near the end to take the 3 points.

ARDS Preview

Friday night is another big one for sure as we are level on points with Ards and we are away from home. We should get in this week for 2 training sessions and shake of any niggles or injuries we have as 3 games in 6 days is tough. We shall be going down to face Ards with confidence from our win at the weekend. We have a win under our belt and want to push on as much as possible. I think this is a game we are well capable of getting maximum points from. We encourage our fans to make the journey on Friday night and cheer us on.
