“We lost the game but there are positives to take from it.” Stevie Moan Nov 20, 2017

Glentoran Game

We got off to the worst possible start in this game conceding from a corner after a few minutes. We gifted them another goal from our own thrown in 20 mins later. I think that we were the better team and pressured them and played some nice neat football. We nearly pulled one back through a Jordan Dane glancing header, but we were denied with a block on the line. We came close again when Darren Murrays free kick forced their keeper to make a great save tipping the ball onto the post. On another day these would have been goals, so we knew that luck was not on our side.  In the second half we continued to play some lovely football showing a range of slick passing and created chance after chance. It was only a matter of time before we got a goal. We finally got a bit of luck getting the penalty but unfortunately we could not convert it. We finally pulled one goal back when Darren Murray hit the post and Conall headed in the rebound. We got the equaliser when the ball fell to Conall again and he poked the ball into the net under the keeper. So, it was now 2-2 and we had missed a penalty. We thought the luck had changed and we could push on but then we conceded from another corner. It is vital that we are fully alert for set pieces and make sure that everyone is marked. To many times we have conceded slack goals which could have been avoided. In this league it is important to put the pressure on and pick up the loose ball. This was evident today with Conall’s two goal. Overall, we lost the game but there are positives to take from it.

Ballinamallard Utd

We now must turn our focus to Saturday where we face Ballinamallard Utd again. We beat them 2-1 at Milltown earlier in the season so we will be looking to get the win again. I think that we should take confidence from the past few weeks as we have been playing good football and we keep creating chances.
