A mistake at the back for Warrenpoint Town allowed a break for Lurgan Celtic on the 5th minute and the number 10 Danny Ryan put it away for the early lead. Warrenpoint lifted themselves and continued to press for the next 8 minutes resulting in their best effort just going wide from the left hand side of the goals by Conor McMenamin. A few more attempts with Lurgan pushing high up the field Josh Lynch went close with a great save by Conor McCrory. A minute later Stephen Murray worked hard to place a shot behind the keeper for it to hit the post but McMenamin was on hand to equalise for the Town.
On the 22nd minute John McGuigan with some super play out the left got the ball into the box for Murray to scuff it and McMenamin to miss a great opportunity and placed it wide. The home side continued to build against the high energy of Lurgan.
On the 30th minute a very good press forward by the highly energetic Aaron Traynor put the home side up 2-1 as Traynor himself hit the post and McMenamin finished the rebound in what was a poor defensive display by Celtic.
Liam Bagnall got a deserved yellow booking on the 40th minute following a poor tackle.
In the second half things continued as they had been in the first with the home team never really getting out of second gear but running out 4-2 winners after Celtic pulled it back to 2-2.9
