Under 14s Back to Winning Ways Oct 16, 2018

Warrenpoint under 14s got back on track on Saturday morning when they defeated Crusaders Colts 7-0 in the NI cup. Following 4 straight league defeats this was the tonic that the boys needed. The opening goal came via a super pass from Matty Hampton who found Steven Reid on the edge of the box and he beat his man before firing into the roof of the net. it was soon 2-0 when midfielder Ivan Shavacko struck a thunderbolt of a shot from just inside the half way line which sailed over the Crusaders goalkeeper. Warrenpoint were well on top at this stage and the third goal came when captain Ethan Soussa brilliantly rounded two defenders before slipping the ball past the on coming keeper to get his first of the day. Callen Morgan had a great chance to get his first of the season when he shrewdly beat his marker but his effort was well saved by the keeper. Crusaders did have a few chances of their own but stout defending from the back four marshalled by Aaron Downey keeping them to long range shots that never really threatened Oisin Mc Stay in the point goal. Ethan Soussa was having a super game in central midfield and he added to his tally just before the half ended when he scored from the edge of the box to make it 4 -0 at the break. Warrenpoint manager Brian Reid made three changes at half time and it was substitute Llywd Jones that was man of the match on the day, as he scored a brilliant hat trick of headers to make it 7-0. A super team performance from the lads and a well deserved victory
