Warrenpoint U12 played their Irish Cup last 16 game away to Carryduff on saturday morning.
It was unquestionably the young teams best performance of the season. They started the game brightly and played like a team who were on top of their game. Harry lynch and Cian Rigby were solid in front of goalkeeper Kieran Traynor who made 2 fantastic one v one saves. Everything started from the back and in the first half the boys came in 2-0 up through the poaching skills of Aaron Carroll and the ever improving Darren Doherty. The midfield consisted of Tiarnan Brown, Rory Powell, Joel Reynolds, Aaron Carroll and Mathew Mc Loughlin who all controlled the game through their tenacity and skill. Mathew and Tiarnan got the teams third and fourth goal respectively. Rory O’Connor and Orin McCoy came on to allow the team to see the game through.
The Carryduff coach and even the referee commented on the way the boys played. Training twice a week is starting to pay off
Next up is the Lisburn Cup Quarter final on the 3rd followed by the Irish Cup Quarter final against Lurgan Town on the 10th.
