City recorded their first win of the season as they got the better of Warrenpoint Town in a keenly contested match at Holm Park.
The opening quarter was mainly played in the midfield area with neither keeper being seriously tested.
The home side broke the deadlock just before the half hour mark when a Shea Campbell cross broke to Connor Mullan on the edge of the box and he swept the ball past Parr in the Warrenpoint goal.
The lead was doubled fifteen minutes into the second half when Mullan beat keeper Parr to an excellent Ciaran Murray through ball before slotting the ball into an empty net.
The home side continued to have the better of the play and Mullan had a couple of opportunities to complete his hattrick including having the ball in the net before being ruled out for offside.
The introduction of Stephen Murray sparked some life into the visitors and he tested keeper Connolly with a couple of long range efforts.
The home side were reduced to 10 men seven minutes from time when Dale Montgomery making his return to the club picked up his second yellow card.
Three minutes from time the visitors got themselves back into the contest when Conor McMenemin fired an unstoppable shot from 30 yards past Connolly. They weren’t however able to add to their goal.
It was ten men aside as the clock reached the 90th minute when Warrenpoint’s Dermot McVeigh picked up his second yellow card of tthe afternoon.
