First of all its an honour to named as captain of Warrenpoint Town for this season. We are back in the big league and we are all very excited. Tippy has shown a lot of faith in me and believes in me doing this job. That is a huge boost for me but also the rest of the team.
The season is going to be exciting. There will be good times and bad times but that is all part of it and the bad times make the good times even better. 12 months ago we faced the bad times being relegated on the last game of the season in circumstances that just left a bad taste. The board and fans backed us and we have bounced back.
Th lads that have come in can push us on from the previous seasons in the Danske Bank Premiership. Obviously, for us, the first priority is maintaining our status as a Premiership club. We will focus, train hard and with the team gelling together we will achieve that goal and build from there.
Glenavon on Saturday will be a tough game, but then they all are at this level. They will fancy their chances but with us working hard and staying strong we can get the three points. Then on Tuesday we are away to Crusaders and no doubt they will go in as massive favourites but as underdogs we have a chance to cause an upset. We will keep things tight and frustrate them so anything will be possible.
At this time of year the vibe around the club is really good with everyone buzzing to start. The squad is really excited for the challenges ahead. Behind the scenes from the volunteers to the board members to the players and the fans I think this family club will all be fighting together to ensure we hit our targets. I look forward to meeting more fans this season at Milltown.
