Barry Gray gives us a few words on his return to Warrenpoint Town and a preview ahead of tomorrow’s Carrick Rangers game.
“On a personal note its great to back in football again after several months out. It’s a very strange feeling being back in your home club seeing all the familiar faces of friends and supporters who have been here for a long time.
“Its never ideal when you find yourself in the position of having to go in and pick up a previous managers team mid-season, and certainly not nice to see Stevie parting ways. On first impression I feel the club has come a long way since I was last here and I feel there are many positive signs and structures in place that can keep everyone upbeat for the future, in particular the great work that is being done inside the academy ranks and led by Aaron our academy director.
“Tomorrows game will no doubt be a very difficult battle at a ground that even the best teams in the league seem to struggle at. The players have had a difficult week with a heavy defeat, depleting squad through injury, and a change in management, however tomorrow game is a opportunity for a fresh start for everyone, a renewed sense of belief and a start to what is going to be an uphill struggle to move off the bottom of the table.
“Due to restricted time with the players this week it’s been difficult for us however tomorrow we want to see intensity, hard work, desire and commitment as a minimum, if we can get these elements right I have no doubt that we will build and climb off that bottom spot.
