We gave a great team performance against Dungannon and this was a crucial win leading into the split. We knew we could get maximum points and we did just that. I thought the boys played excellent from goalkeeper to the boys that came off the bench. We put a shift in and dug out the best result possible and came away a happy bunch of players, staff and club. We started off the game well and created a good few chances. Lorcan Forde was beating men and torturing the Dungannon defence all day and opened the scoring for us when Jordan squared the ball to him after good work up the line. We had 17 passes from back to front in the build up to our first goal which was impressive. Jordan himself then got on the scoresheet in the second half with a good header from a corner. Dungannon had a few chances themselves in the second half but we defended well, and Jonny Parr pulled off some good saves. I thought that we were well set up and everyone carried out their role effectively. TJ struck a belter from about 30 yards to finish the game off. Overall, I think everyone in the point jersey was excellent today and it was great to get the win at home and keep a clean sheet. We are now 10 points clear of the relegation play-off spot. Stevie has us playing a nice brand of football and working hard for each other, and the new shape seems to be working. We go up against Ards on Tuesday night and then Ballinmallard so it is important we get good training in and recover properly.
The last time we met Ards it was a good game ending 3-3. I thought we were unlucky only to pick up a point in this game as we played some great football and created a lot of chances. We got off to a cracking start in this game getting a goal inside 90 seconds. I believe that it is vital that we start of like this again and take the game to them. We can take confidence from our win over Dungannon and our recent away win to Ballymena. Hopefully we can get a result on Tuesday night and all pressure will be off and we shall regain our premiership status. 2 wins out of 3 is a great start and long may this continue.
